DW Taylor, Founder

With more than 25 years in the construction industry, DW has built a reputation for quality, integrity, and reliability. As the founder and owner of Taylor Builders, Inc., he takes pride in turning clients’ visions into reality, whether it’s a custom home, remodel or addition. Known for his attention to detail and commitment to excellence, DW ensures every job is completed on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.

Outside of work, DW is a devoted husband and father who enjoys spending time with his family. When he’s not on a job site, you can often find him enjoying all the outdoor activities and adventures that the Colorado lifestyle, in particular the San Juan Mountains provides. His strong family values and passion for his community shape the way he approaches his business—with honesty, dedication, and genuine care for people.

Michael Downin
Carpenter

  • Michael Downin originally hails from Columbus, Ohio, where at the age of 17 he joined the Army as an Abrams Main Battle Tank crewman. During his service in the Army, he deployed to Iraq twice, lived in eight states, and obtained his Master’s Degree in Health and Occupational Safety with a focus in Environmental Management. After 24 years in the Army, Michael retired as a Command Sergeant Major and settled in Bayfield with his wife Stephanie, their three dogs, and two cats. Always hands on and eager to learn, he began a new career in construction with Taylor Builders in January 2025.

    Michael is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys anything the wild has to offer; from hiking to canyoneering – from hunting to fishing. He is also a private pilot who enjoys soaring over the western U.S. and exploring new places.

John Fabiano
Project Manager 

  • I am a Colorado native. I graduated from San Juan Votech in 2000 with my building trades and have been building custom homes ever since. I enjoy working with homeowners to make their vision become reality on their building projects. I also like being hands-on and working with our subcontractors and employees making sure that jobs get done correctly and on time.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family camping and riding dirt bikes in the summer. In the winter months, we enjoy snowboarding as a family.
